Floating naval base that i have in planning for the cartagena marine cluster they wanted a floating building lot with the same buildings and hangars as they have it now in their land base.
The idea here is you build the building lot and then you build buildings on it to host the people and installations just like on land. But this is doing 2 taksk instead of one you build the floating structure and the housing units in two separated building processes this is expensive.
It is obvious that the “house on a platform concept” can only be performed in a protected bay where Draupner waves do not occure. As it is also little elegant and expensive i consider it a “clumpsy building method of first thought” that needs to be replaced by better concepts like the “integrated shell concepts below”
A yacht in its basic nature is a “shell construction” where the living space is not on top of the build but inside. Most yachts have very little open deckspace as open decks are unpleasent and dangerous at sea. If there are decks they are in the stern area protected against wind and salt spray by the high superstructure of the yacht.
A glimps how a seastead could be constructed is this shell cluster piece for the oil industry. Each cell is 24m diameter so something like half of the panteon dome.
The pantheon is 43m and has a single opening (oculus) of 8m on the top which is sufficient to flood the dome with light similar to a shopping center. So closing the 22 cells of the oil structure with a dome leaving only small apex windows you get a dozend “shopping centers” where people can not fall over board and are protected against Draupner impact
The building principle can be described as “sphere cluster”.
sphere clusters buildings with plenty of small round windows type “bull eye” are still very “Draupner impact safe”

honeycomb shell building structure
A small mobile shell bubble boat.
a honeycomb shell struture with mostly square shapes - whenever you need an adittional room you add a new shell to the shell cluster. You can grow horizontally on the watersurface or vertically by piling up floors. In other words in any direction and to any size.
